I’m running for Supreme Court in the 5th Judicial District because I have seen firsthand the massive impact judges have on people’s lives—in many ways, even more so than other elected officials. When people go to court with a problem, whether it’s a child custody issue or a business dispute, they deserve a judge that’s going to treat that problem seriously and work hard to get to the right result, while treating everyone with fairness, impartiality, and respect.

My Vision for the Court is Straightforward:
Supreme Court Justices bear an extraordinary responsibility: their decisions can have lifelong consequences for individuals, families, and the broader community. Throughout my career, I have been mentored by dozens of judges and the top legal minds in New York State whose careful, principled decision-making truly changed lives. Those examples, combined with my own experience and temperament, compel me to seek this role while remaining humbled by its profound responsibility.
I have spent most of my career working to bring reform to the legal profession and our state court system. This comprehensive, firsthand experience gives me a rare and balanced perspective on how the system functions in practice and how it affects the people subject to it. As a judge, I would bring this understanding to every case, ensuring that each matter is considered thoughtfully, thoroughly, and with an appreciation for both the legal issues and the human realities involved.
My experience at the center of court system administration and in some of the biggest civil rights battles of our day gave me unique insights into the big picture of dispensing justice and the transformative power of the law. I also have been at the forefront of improving access to justice in the Fifth Judicial District and statewide; I know the challenges intimately and have been deeply involved in developing lasting solutions.
Judges wield significant authority over individual futures. That power demands discipline, fairness, and humility. These are qualities I have developed through years of experience, reflection, and service, and they are the principles I would bring to the bench every day. My desire to serve as a Supreme Court Justice is grounded in a commitment to evaluate every case based on the facts, the law, and principles of equity— without preconception and with careful attention to the consequences of each decision.
